The province of Newfoundland and Labrador has some of the highest use of potentially harmful medications in seniors compared to the rest of Canada. In collaboration with the Department of Health and Community Services and their Appropriateness of Care Initiative, this project aims to increase public and healthcare provider awareness of potentially harmful medications and the availability of safer alternatives. The project team will implement evidence-informed educational interventions while building synergy and reducing duplication. They will analyze the reduction of inappropriate medication use as a result of launching a public awareness campaign while simultaneously providing direct education to patients and health care providers. The education includes versions of the deprescribing.org algorithms.
